How do the three modes work?
Challenge is timed. The needle stitches on its own, and you keep it fed: tap or drag the spool that matches the Next colour at the top of the screen before the tension bar runs out. Clean colour changes build a combo, and a tidy round earns up to three stars.
Trace has no timer. The pattern is printed on the fabric. Pick a thread in the tray, then tap or sweep your finger across its squares. Only wrong-colour taps cost stars. You can leave at any time and your piece is saved.
Free Draw is a blank fabric. Pick a colour and drag from hole to hole to lay each stitch. Tap a hole for a knot, and unpick anything you change your mind about.
Can I see the tutorial again?
Yes. Open My Account (under the Stitchwork title on the Stitch tab) and choose How to play. The Challenge and Trace pages have a Try it button that opens a short practice round. Nothing in practice is scored or saved.
The squares on a big piece are too small to tap.
Pinch to zoom in, or use the + button beside the fabric. The target button jumps to the nearest unstitched square of the thread you have picked. Stitching is switched off while you are zoomed all the way out on a large piece, so a stray tap never counts as a slip.
How do I find pieces I haven’t finished?
Finished pieces wear a green Done badge. Turn on the Hide completed chip above the list to see only what is left. You can also search by piece or collection name, and filter by size.
When does the daily challenge change?
A new daily challenge starts at midnight UTC. To be reminded, tap the bell on the daily card, or open My Account and switch on Daily challenge reminder. You get one notification a day at most, and never on a day you have already finished it.
Free play and Stitchwork Pro
What can I do for free?
Free stitchers can start three different pieces in each mode: three challenges, three traces and three free draws. Free pieces have fewer than 100 stitches. Replaying or continuing a piece you have already started is always free, and the pieces you have made are yours to keep.
How do I get more free pieces?
When a mode’s three pieces are used, you can choose to watch a short video ad to unlock one more piece, up to two a day. Ads are always your choice. Stitchwork has no banners and no ads that interrupt play.
You can also invite a friend, which unlocks pieces of up to 500 stitches without buying anything.
What is Stitchwork Pro?
Pro is a one-time purchase. It is not a subscription and never renews. It unlocks every piece at every size (up to 10,000 stitches), removes the piece limits and the ads, and adds Pro-only needles, threads, fabrics and frames, extra share-card colours, and stitch-along videos.
I bought Pro but it isn’t showing. How do I restore it?
Pro belongs to the Apple ID that bought it. Make sure the device is signed in to that Apple ID, then open the Shop tab or My Account and tap Restore purchases. Restoring is free. If it still doesn’t appear, email us and we will sort it out.
How do I get a refund?
Apple processes every purchase, so refunds are handled by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Your account and progress
Do I need to make an account?
No. Stitchwork creates a guest account the first time you open it, with no email or password. A guest account lives on one device.
How do I keep my progress when I change phones?
Open My Account and choose Sign in with Apple. Your buttons, unlocks, gallery, times and scores are then saved to your account. On the new device, sign in with Apple in the same place and everything comes back. Do this before deleting the app or wiping a device: a guest account that was never linked can’t be recovered.
What about my Free Draw pieces?
Free Draw pieces are stored on your device only. They aren’t uploaded, so they don’t move to a new device, and they are not removed when you delete your account.
Can I change my name on the leaderboard?
Yes. Open My Account and tap Rename. Names are 2 to 24 characters. Please keep them friendly: we may change a name that is offensive.
How do I delete my account?
Open My Account, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account. This permanently erases your account and everything saved on our server, including buttons and unlocks. Stitchwork Pro stays with your Apple ID, so you can restore it afterwards.
Inviting friends
How do invites work?
Open My Account and choose Invite a friend to see and share your code. When a friend who is new to Stitchwork enters your code and finishes their first piece, you receive 1,000 buttons, two themed sets that can’t be bought, and free pieces of up to 500 stitches. Your friend receives 250 buttons for using a code. Each friend after the first is worth 250 more buttons, for up to ten friends.
My friend used my code but I haven’t received anything.
The reward arrives when your friend finishes their first piece, not when they enter the code. Once they have, pull down on the Stitch tab to refresh.
Where do I enter a friend’s code?
In the same place: My Account, then Invite a friend, under “Did a friend invite you?”. A code can be entered once, within your first week of playing, and you can’t use your own.
Troubleshooting
The app says I’m playing offline.
The pattern library and all three modes work without a connection, and anything you finish is sent the next time you are online. The daily challenge, leaderboard, Shop and purchases need a connection.
The ad won’t load.
Ads need a connection, and occasionally none is available. Try again in a little while. Your free pieces and anything you have already unlocked are not affected.
Something else is wrong.
Close and reopen the app, and check the App Store for an update. If the problem is still there, email us. We read everything.
